Everything worth doing is within 10 minutes. The hard part is deciding what to do first.

What's around you

Broken Bow sits in the Ouachita Mountains in southeast Oklahoma — a pocket of dense pine forest, clear cold rivers, and the kind of quiet that's increasingly hard to find anywhere close to a major city.

Beavers Bend State Park is the anchor. Hiking trails, trout fishing on the Mountain Fork River, canoeing, horseback riding, and enough pine canopy to make you forget what a highway looks like. It's one of those places that people from Oklahoma have known about for decades and everyone else is just now discovering.

Hochatown is where you eat, drink, and stock up. Good breweries, a distillery, pizza, BBQ, coffee, and a wine bar — all within a few minutes of the cabin. It still feels like a small town rather than a tourist trap.

Broken Bow Lake is 22,000 acres of clear water with boat launches, fishing, paddleboarding, and kayaking. Spring and fall are the best times — calm water, manageable crowds, and scenery that's hard to beat.
